On the night of 3rd June 2020, when cyclonic storm Nisarga was playing havoc across the state of Maharashtra, students of Aatone village school, Roha, were oblivious to its impact on their future.

The school building collapsed in the storm, leaving the children deprived of their place of learning.

For over a year, their headmaster, Mr Gajanan Pundlikrao Jadhav, persevered with the education of his wards by conducting makeshift classes under a banyan tree in the village.

We came to know of this through a news feature on a local TV channel and decided to construct a school for them through our “Light A Lamp” CSR initiative.

Our team completed the project in 7 months and handed over the school to the district authorities.

We are happy to share that Devasthal – Raigad Zilla Parishad Primary School is now fully functional with over a hundred students from economically weaker backgrounds on its rolls.
